BSMC Community Long-Range Plan Summary Statement
Last Updated December 11, 2008
The Planning Board, in collaboration with the Boulder Shambhala community will explore our common aspirations and develop a Community Long-range Plan, which will define our goals for the next 3-5 years. The purpose of this plan is to provide both inspiration and direction for the Center at the heart of the community, as well as the local Shambhala society. Fulfilling this vision will require the energy and contributions of the entire sangha — members, friends of the Center, staff, community leadership, teachers, and volunteers.
The planning process will involve gathering and sharing information about the activities of the Boulder mandala in order to increase appreciation for the richness already present. The plan will also determine what additional support and direction is required, and assess any new areas that need community resources and talent. Lastly, the plan will provide direction for how to focus the energy of the community to realize these aspirations.
The process will involve the following five steps:
1. Explore where we are now through:
v Community Meetings,
v Interviews with existing groups, leaders and teachers;
v Feedback forms;
v A webpage blog (you are here!)
2. Identify what activities and areas are most important to the sangha.
3. Vision where we hope to be as a community in 3-5 years.
4. Outline year-by-year goals to help us fulfill our long-range vision, and present a Long Range Plan.
5. Provide ongoing support to the Center Director, staff and community members to realize the goals in the plan.
